The Nai Harn is committed to upholding the highest standards of corporate social responsibility in its business activities. It works hard to make every guest feel welcome and respected, and above all, it believes that this spirit should be alive in the communities in which we work and live. One of the most important guiding principles is “integrity”, meaning that employees perform their duties with honesty, care and pride. CSR efforts focus on these areas:
Support and impact in the local community
Instead of leaving items behind, hotel guests are invited to place unwanted items in The Giving Bag, which are then donated to Phuket Sunshine Village, a local foster home for children in need. The fabric bags are specially made from discarded bed linen and sewn by local Phuket women commissioned by The Nai Harn for their handiwork.
Environmental and green initiatives
Outside the hotel, staff at The Nai Harn regularly organise environmentally and socially conscious activities and events, such as mangrove planting days and beach clean-ups. Ongoing green initiatives at The Nai Harn include: The use of natural fertiliser in the garden, eco-friendly cleaning products and energy-saving light bulbs or LED lighting. To save water, there are special shower heads, tap aerators and all toilets have a dual flush function. The use of disposable plastic is avoided throughout the resort.
The grey water is used for the plants in the resort’s gardens. To shorten the journey from farm to table, the resort team plants and maintains its own vegetable and herb garden. Plants such as Pandanus amaryllifolius are grown for decorative purposes, but are also used as ingredients in desserts. Furniture in the PRIME restaurant is made of recycled wood.
Selected partners and employee development
The Nai Harn partners with local businesses that its guests choose to use for their activities, such as an award-winning dive operator and an ethical elephant sanctuary. To drive the hotel’s service standards and motivate the team members to grow, The Nai Harn is committed to retaining and encouraging them by offering a variety of comprehensive internal and externally delivered training, such as the Skills Redevelopment Programme, to enhance their expertise and develop their full potential.
