With the Groot Marico River on its doorstep, Madikwe River Lodge offers a front row seat to all the wildlife. The surrounding wilderness is a true triumph of conservation and is home to a variety of wildlife, including African wild dogs and cheetahs, which together with the Big Five form the “Madikwe Super Seven”.
Location
If you are travelling between Johannesburg and Gaborone, Madikwe River Lodge is just the place to stay. The lodge is situated in the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve near the border with Botswana. You would never guess that not so long ago this region was little more than deserted farmland.
In and around the hotel
There are twice-daily game drives, guided bush walks, birdwatching and more than enough quiet corners to sit back and take in the scenery. Weddings can also be celebrated here.
