Reethi Faru is a private boutique resort with an enviable pedigree for conserving the natural beauty of the islands and sustaining the ecosystems upon which the fragile coral reef relies.
Location
Located on the island of Filaidhoo in Raa Atoll, this breath-taking island seamlessly blends intimacy and privacy and measures just 600m x 350m. Take a scenic 40-minutes seaplane flight with a spectacular aerial view of the Maldivian thousand isles or alternatively take a 20-minute domestic flight to Dharavandhoo followed by a 40-minute speed boat ride to the island.
In line with our commitment to nature conservation, all of the free-standing and family villas were built according to traditional methods. It is of great importance to us to use as many natural materials as possible.
For example, we build with bricks made from recycled earth and sustainable teak from Indonesia. Used ceramics and lacquer work come from the region.

Garden Villa, 49 qm
The Reethi Faru Garden Villas are surrounded by lush green vegetation. Each villa offers the natural beauty of the island, spectacular views of the local flora. The tranquility of your house is underlined with a seating area, rain shower, terrace with deck chairs as well as loungers (with mattresses) on the beach nearby.
Garden Suite 2-bedroom, 126 qm
The Garden Suites collection offers an extra large living and dining area, two bedrooms, bathroom and guest toilet and a spacious deck with independent entrances. Suitable for families or large groups traveling together.
Deluxe Beach Villa, 64 qm
Our collection of detached beachfront villas has the most luxurious interior size. You are truly private. The villa offers a spacious sitting area, rain shower and bathtub, terrace with deck chairs and sun beds (with mattresses) on the beach.
Deluxe Beach Pool Villa, 68 qm
These Villas are similar to the Deluxe Jacuzzi Beach Villas, but instead of the Jacuzzi you will find a pool (7×4 m², depth 1.2 m).
Deluxe Beach Suite 2-bedroom, 147 qm
Specially designed for large groups or families with a secluded beachfront location, independent entrances and a white beach. The unspoiled view of the sunrise as well as the sunset allows you to enjoy the spectacular colours nature has to offer.
Water Villa, 78 qm
Set in a warm and private setting, each villa is secluded in its own access and location, and comes with its own private deck overlooking the endless blue waters. These villas catch your eye with their beautiful natural light, wooden ceilings, and warm decor, a spacious sitting area, rain shower, indoor shower and bathtub, sun loungers (with mattresses) and direct access to the lagoon.
Water Villa Suites, 226 qm
These Water Villa Suites are the ultimate form of indulgence. Special attention was paid to the design of the villa, offering privacy and unique interiors. Reethi Faru has an Eco-Committee with four designated core members to overlook the green initiatives and sustainability programs implemented within the island as well as to create awareness among team members, guests, local community and potential customers for Reethi Faru.
Reethi Faru was designed and built with deep consideration to the fragile environment where it is situated and with great appreciation for the nature given beauty and resources surrounded by it. While setting up the beams for jetties and water villas, the corals around these areas were safely removed and relocated within the house reef.
Once a month, “Reethi Day” is organized along with guests and team members, doing different activities like reef clean-ups, coral planting or tree planting which is mindful of the environment. Reethi Day helps create awareness as well as provides an open learning experience.
Energy
The resort uses solar panels to produce energy and heat exchangers for hot water.
RO Plant and STP Plant
The resort is equipped with modern technology to use water as sustainable as possible.The Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant is used for desalination of seawater to use for general purposes and as drinking water. All the wastewater produced by the island is treated on the island in their state-of-the-art sewage treatment plant (STP). The wastewater is treated organically, reused as greywater within the island. Because of this plant, there is zero discharge to the ocean from the island, creating a safer, cleaner environment.
Waste and Recycling
Reethi Faru Resort works closely with Parley for oceans to manager plastic waste. However, their primary goal is to minimise the use of single-use plastic and look for environmentally friendly solutions. The island is equipped with a glass crusher, a paper compactor and can crusher. All of the food and horticulture waste is segregated from other waste and disposed of in the resorts own biogas plant. The bio-waste which is hazardous is carefully segregated and sent to Thilafushi, a waste management island near the capital city. All the green waste like dried leaves are ground and used as mulch for soil stabilisation.
Sustainable Farming
In order to become a fully sustainable island, Reethi faru also need to produce its own food. Organic and sustainable farming concepts are adopted within the resort.
Marine Conservation
Reef restoration programs are conducted with the help of resident marine biologist. Fragments of corals are tied into metal frames, they also have the rope nursery where the corals grow and they are transferred and planted back in the reef. Other conservation efforts for certain megafauna species include collaborations with Manta Trust for mantas and Olive Ridley Project for turtles. Their latest project is being tried and the initiative is to study the movement patterns of spinner dolphins around Raa Atoll.
