The best way to experience Komodo’s natural beauty is by sea, aboard one of the exclusive vessels in the AYANA fleet. There are five types of boat to choose from. You can host a private event or take a longer tour on the luxurious Ayana Lako Sae sailing yacht. Enjoy the sunset while watching the bats fly in at the bar on the Ayana Lako Sae. Take a glass-bottom boat to explore the ocean’s beauty, or embark on a short private tour on the Ayana Lako Cama or Ayana Lako Lelo. You can customise each day with activities such as snorkelling, wildlife excursions and marine sports like kayaking and SUP.
Since opening in September 2018, the AYANA Komodo Waecicu Beach Hotel has paid close attention to its beautiful surroundings, launching the AYANA Cares commitment in the process. AYANA Cares aims to promote the care and protection of the surrounding oceans, particularly the coral reefs, which are under threat.
AYANA Cares’ main goals are to raise awareness of the issues facing the oceans and coral reefs, and to encourage guests to participate in coral conservation programmes. Visitors of all ages can participate in educational programmes and hands-on activities such as coral planting, as well as snorkelling and diving excursions to explore the stunning coral reefs and underwater world around the island. “At AYANA Komodo Waecicu Beach, we believe that everyone can contribute to environmental protection,” says Lee Miles, the hotel’s marine biologist. ‘Our resort is a centre for education and environmental protection, where guests can learn about the importance of coral reefs and participate in our conservation programme. We hope to inspire a new generation of marine conservationists.”
AYANA’s coral planting programme has to date covered a total area of 950 square metres and includes 250 coral frames with over 2,500 corals planted. In addition, 160 ropes bearing over 1,600 coral fragments are well on their way to developing into new colonies. AYANA’s commitment to coral conservation and restoration has resulted in a thriving, healthy marine ecosystem teeming with fish and other marine life.
AYANA Komodo works closely with the local community to promote sustainable development and education through the Komodo Conservation Fund. AYANA donates $1 for every room enjoyed by visitors like you to support the conservation of Komodo National Park.
